Hello, I’m Chelsea, a nationally accredited dog trainer (National Dog Trainers Federation, 2014), with more than a decade of professional experience working with puppies, dogs and their people.
My background includes seven years of training puppies and dogs across a range of settings with pet dog owners, followed by more than four years with Guide Dogs Victoria as a Puppy Development Advisor: providing specialised training and support to prepare puppies and dogs for their future roles as Guide and Therapy Dogs.
I created Geelong & Surf Coast Dog Co. to help people truly understand their dogs, communicate clearly and calmly, and find the real enjoyment in training together.
Our Approach
Dogs learn best when they feel safe and supported.
We use positive reinforcement and modern canine behaviour science to teach dogs what to do, rather than focusing on what we don’t want. No lead jerks, physical corrections, intimidating equipment, or outdated techniques: just calm communication, consistency, and encouragement. By rewarding correct behaviour and preventing unwanted behaviours from being successful or reinforcing, we set dogs up to make great choices.
When training is clear, consistent, and enjoyable for everyone involved, the results speak for themselves.
Our Location
Our group training takes place in a peaceful, open setting surrounded by nature in Torquay. With both indoor and outdoor spaces available, dogs and their people can learn in a calm, low-distraction environment that supports focused learning away from the bustle of everyday life.
